I completed a full month of reading Stephen King (see full review here). Having only read one short story by Stephen King (just last year), I didn’t know what to expect and am shocked at how much I ended up enjoying his work – though not without some nightmares. I will be moving on to reading Shirley Jackson next as part of my Focus on Authors Challenge.

What are y’all reading? Any plans to read some creepy novels for October?
HAPPY READING!!!
Sarah, I absolutely loved We Have Always Lived in the Castle, so I hope you read that soon. 😀
Here’s my WWW post: https://thebookwormchronicles.wordpress.com/2019/10/02/www-wednesday-2nd-october-2019/ 🙂
I am so glad to hear that you liked it. While I know so many people who have read it, I know absolutely nothing about it. Is it spooky?
It is a deliciously creepy and unsettling tale 😛
I’ve read both books by Shirley Jackson, very short reads and I loved them.
Interesting titles you’ve got here!👍🙂
So glad you enjoyed them. I’ve never read Shirley Jackson but have wanted to for a while.
I hope you enjoy them, too. 🙂
I’m happy to hear you’ve taken a shine to Stephen King after reading through some of his books. How are you getting on with House of Leaves?

I feel that “taken a shine to Stephen King” was a bit of a book pun that I thoroughly enjoyed (since The Shining was my favorite). On my lunch break I got to the part of HOL where the footnotes really go crazy. It is definitely the most interesting reading experience I have ever had. I’m also finding darkness and space a bit more creepy now.
I believe you’re referring to the chapter “Labyrinth”? It was quite something. If at any point you feel the strain as I did, know that after coming out the other side of it the footnotes become less labyrinthine.
Also that pun was 100% intended 🙂
I love the Lottery! Possibly my favorite short story of all time! 🖤 happy reading!
You already found my WWW, but posting so others can find it

That seems like high praise indeed. I’ll probably start it tomorrow!
I read We Have Always Lived in the Castle last year for Frightening Good Reads and it is creepy! I preferred it to The Haunting of Hill House which I didn’t find scary at all. Popped over and read your review of The Kiss Quotient and I am so glad you enjoyed it! I was surprised by how much fun I had reading it.
Have a wonderful week! https://silverbuttonbooks.com/2019/10/02/www-wednesday-october-2-2019/
Oh I wish I knew about Focus on Author challenge earlier, I would’ve joined. Is it a yearly reading challenge? I’m a new fan of Stephen King, by the way, and it’s in my plan to read all his books if I can, next year. I just can’t do it this year because I don’t have a lot of his books. I want to read physical copies but can’t buy them all in one go, they’re too expensive. Maybe because they’re huge and Stephen King is very well-known.
I heard about a fellow reader focusing on authors that they wanted to read more of and just decided to give that a try and make that a personal challenge for my 2019 reading life. If you have a list of authors you want to read more of, I definitely recommend this challenge. However, it has limited my ability to read other books that I would have liked to read, so I will not be doing the challenge again next year but might pick it up again 2021. I too would love to read more Stephen King. I have a lot of his work on ebook not physical copies. I think it would take me a long time to read his entire collection of work. He is so prolific!
George Elliot used to be one of my favorite authors, though I only read one of her books! I really need to go back and reread her work and see if she’s still a favorite.
Was it Middlemarch that you read? I just finished Adam Bede and did not enjoy it. I am not giving up on finding something else by her I might like better though.
Yes it was! I loved that book. That’s good to know, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read Adam Bede
